How do I become a Christian?
Mankind has a problem, we don't like to think of it as a problem, but it is.
The problem is sin.
We can try and push it under the carpet, forget about it, but it always has a way or rearing its head. The problem with sin is that it separates us from having a relationship with God, the very thing we were created to do. You may not think that you are a sinner, but we are all sinners, we all have the disease..but there is a cure!
Believing in Jesus, believing that he died for us on the cross to pay for our sins, believing that he rose again and is alive in heaven, believing that he wants a personal relationship with each one of us. The bible calls this kind of relationship being ‘born again. Jesus said that you must be born again to enter the kingdom of heaven, but what does it mean to be 'born-again'? In simple terms to be born again is to ask Jesus in to your life, and repent of your sins.
Admit that you are a sinner
Ask Jesus to forgive you for your sin
Ask Jesus into your life to be your Lord
Submit yourself to Jesus
The Bible says, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." So if you have asked Him into your life, and believe He died to save you, you are a Christian, bound for Heaven.
Living as a Christian does not guarantee that your life will now run smoothly, so it is important to seek other Christians who can help you. Your local church is the best place. Both individual Christian friends and a solidly Bible-based Christian church are essential.
